TAHA ALAHMAD

Father, electrical engineer, from Syria; flees the town of Altabaqa in Northern Syria with his family to escape the chaos of war and the regime of terror under IS. The family head to Turkey where they continue their journey to Europe across the sea. At Idomeni refugee camp, Taha meets Michael Grossenbacher and they become close friends. He helps “Schwizerchrüz” by working as a translator. Months after the initial escape, he makes it to Switzerland with his wife Fatema and their three young daughters, Rama, Leyan and Reman. They have since been granted asylum and live near Lucerne, where the children go to school.
